Evolution to ISBN 13

To increase the numbering capacity of the current ISBN (International Standard Book Number) system, the ISBN will officially change from 10 to 13 digits on 1 January 2007.

This will be a global change.

Existing 10 digit ISBNs will be converted to their equivalent 13 digit ISBN, while new publications from 1 Jan 2007 will only have a 13 digit ISBN. Thus, all references to the ISBN from 1 Jan 2007 will need to be via the 13 digit ISBN.

The example below highlights the change in the appearance of a barcode:

Availability

Occasionally titles go out of print. We endeavor to remove titles from the web site when they go out of print. However this is not always the case. In most cases we find out that a book is out of print when we place an order for it with our supplier/publisher. This means we cannot fulfill a customer's order. We apologize for the inconvenience.

For items in stock, delivery to a New Zealand destination is usually 2- 3 business days. For items not in stock with us but in stock with a New Zealand distributor, delivery is again usually 2 -3 business days to a New Zealand destination. If we need to source a book from an overseas distributor, delivery to a New Zealand destination will usually be 10 - 14 days.

Deliveries to an overseas destination typically take 3 - 6 weeks. The actual time taken usually depends on the delivery systems within the destination country.

Shipping

Products are shipped within New Zealand by the New Zealand Post Parcel Post Service. As at 28 March 2008 New Zealand Post changed the way it charges for this service and at thebookshelf.co.nz we have had to change the way we charge for shipping.

We use the following rates for orders shipped anywhere in New Zealand.

$29.00 to $299.00 $5.25
