Winter In The Alps

Winter In The Alps, ISBN 9781740667388 and books by Manuela Darling-Gansser on sale at thebookshelf.co.nz

Now available in paperback, Winter in the Alps is a stunning depiction of the unique cuisine and breathtaking beauty of the Alps from the author of the bestselling Under the Olive Tree and Autumn in Piemonte. The Alps – Europes spectacular chain of mountains more than 1000 kilometres long – symbolize all that is magical about a northern winter. Stretching from France to Austria, along the border of Switzerland and Italy, this area is one of superlatives: the wildest, the highest, the windiest and the most isolated. It is also home to some of the most delicious food in all of Europe. In Winter in the Alps, Manuela Darling–Gansser and photographer Simon Griffiths take a culinary journey from the peaks of St Moritz down to the glittering streets of Z rich. They showcase the culture, lifestyle and, of course, food, of this remarkably diverse region. Be tempted by delicious Alpine–inspired dishes such as Cloud Souffl and Pappardelle with Duck Rag ; indulge in meltin–your–mouth Sp tzle, R sti and Creamy Zabaione; sip warming Gl hwein and roast chestnuts over the open fire – and be transported right to the enchanting heart of continental Europe in winter.
